First Ammonia shipment after commissioning the new Ammonia export line

This project was an initiative step carried out by the Company's management to offer PIC’s employees and Shuaiba industrial area's workers, the maximum aspects of safety in their working environment.

By accepting the challenge of replacing the 18" Ammonia Export Line and its 4" Gas return line, PIC has become a best example of caring about the Industrial area worker's safety and keeping its assets equipped with the latest technology in all fields. This was achieved by replacing the shut-off valves all over the lines by highly technical ones and adding high sensitivity gas detectors along the line.

In addition,  all  the  control units  for the shut-off valves  and  the detectors  were connected to  the Central Control Room (CCR)  in Plant (B)  for easier and  effective control.

Record Breaking Shipment of Urea

Vessel "Navios Kypros" was originally scheduled to load from Sitra/Bahrain, however, when it was known that this vessel can load approximately 44,000 mt on maximum allowed draught of 10.5 meters at Shuaiba, some alterations were made in our shipment schedule and vessel was brought to Shuaiba for loading.  Loading of over 40,000 mt from Shuaiba Port was considered a dream in the olden days.  Vessel "Ocean Morning" which loaded 42,474.900 mt during August 2006 was the first vessel to cross the 40,000 mt mark which is now bettered by vessel "Navios Kypros" thus setting a new record for the highest quantity hitherto loaded from Shuaiba.  Proper planning  and combined efforts of all concerned contributed to this historical achievement and we hope that it will open new windows of opportunities for PIC in the future  by being able to entertain buyers such as Hi-FERT and IPL  in Australia who prefer shipments over 40,000 mt.
