EMC is an exclusive sales agent for EQUATE and is owned 50.1 per cent by UCC and 49.9 per cent by PIC. EMC was incorporated in Bahrain in 1996 for the marketing of EQUATE’s products. Since the establishment of MEGlobal (in relation to the distribution of MEG), EMC is only responsible for the marketing of polyethylene.
EMC has well established marketing channels directly through its own office as well as through well established agency and distribution arrangements worldwide. It has four sales offices in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing). EMC’s main commercial activities are carried out using Kuwait as an operational base. EMC employs a total of 11 sales and 11 customer service representatives to sell polyethylene. EMC’s volume distribution and pricing structure are managed
in accordance with a marketing policy developed by EMC management. EMC utilises electronic demand management techniques to optimise product allocation to direct products to the highest available marginal markets to enhance returns.
