Project Description
The Aromatics Complex is based on processing 2.515 MM TPA Full Range Naphtha (FRN) as a feedstock, which will be, imported from a nearby sister company refineries Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). The Aromatics Complex processes will be under the license of UOP, LLC. Delaware, USA.
The primary products of the Aromatic Plant:
- 830 KMTA Para-Xylene.
- 390 KMTA Benzene.
Para-Xylene will be exported from Kuwait whilst Benzene will be consumed totally in the adjacent Ethyl Benzene & Styrene Monomer (EBSM) plant that is part of Olefins II complex.
Side products such as Light Naphtha (LN) will be sent to Mina Abdullah Refinery (MAB), from where it will be exported as premium petrochemical naphtha by KNPC/KPC (Kuwait Petroleum Corporation).
Butane (LPG) and Hydrogen will also be produced as co-products and sent to the nearby refineries, where as LPG will be exported from Mina Ahmadi Refinery (MAA) and Hydrogen will be blended and totally consumed within the refineries hydrogen network.
Rich Ethane/Propane streams will be produced in the process and exported to the Olefins II Complex as additional feedstock to produce additional Ethylene of approx. 100 KMTA.
Other co-products such as Light Ends and Heavy Aromatics will be produced in small quantities and used as fuel supply for the plant.
The Aromatics Plant will also have the ability to process Pyrolysis Gasoline (PyGas) and a Benzene/Toluene (BT)-rich stream from the Olefins II Complex to produce additional Benzene of approx. 50 KMTA.
